FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What wineries are we going to visit?
Our preferred wineries are Clearwater Canyon Cellars, Colter’s Creek , Lindsay Creek Winery, Vine 46, and Woodie Cellars. We are excited to showcase these award winning wineries and their amazing wines. (Note that Colter’s Creek is not included in the Muscat Quick Tours, and Woodie Cellars is an optional add-on.)
In what order will we visit the wineries?
In order to give you the best experience possible, the guide will determine which winery is visited and what order.
How long will we spend at each winery?
For the Muscat quick tours, it will be around one hour per winery/tasting room. The total time is between four and a half to five and a half hours. For the Malbec Tour, between an hour and fifteen minutes to an hour and a half per winery, depending on the interest of the guests. The total time will be between six and a half to eight hours, depending on the options selected. For custom tours, it is at the complete discretion of the Responsible Party.
What should I wear?
This is an easy question: whatever you want! In the summer shorts and skirts/dresses are the norm. In the winter, sweaters and sweatshirts, are prevalent. Jeans are always okay. Some people wear khakis. Every once in a great while you’ll see people in a suit and tie. The bottom line is dress how you feel comfortable, and you will not feel out of place. However, comfortable shoes are strongly recommended. High heels are strongly discouraged, in case we have the ability to go out into a vineyard. Also, please avoid applying strongly scented body sprays/perfume. These can not only impact the taste of your wine, but it can affect the taste of the wine of others in your party.
What if I have a plane to catch?
No problem. Just let the guide know in advance, and he will have you to your gate at the Lewiston Regional Airport without any worries at all. Also included in your tour, if you have a cancellation or a significant delay (if flight plans were a part of your original package reservation), you can contact your guide to make hotel or other reservations as needed. While the concierge services are free, each of the services arranged come with their own fees (for example, if you need a hotel room, you are responsible for paying for the hotel room).
If we drive in to the designated rally point to meet the tour, won’t we be too intoxicated to drive?
We strongly encourage our guests to enjoy the Lewis Clark Valley, and enjoy the amazing restaurants we have to offer. Take your time, enjoy a meal, and savor this time away from stress. In fact, why don’t you stay at our Preferred Partner, the Red Lion Hotel? We can get you a discount, and there are no worries that way. Mention that you are with Twisted Vine Wine Tours, and they will apply the discount, or contact us for more information. Or, there are our partners at the Quality Inn and Convention Center, the Best Western, the Hampton Inn, or the Holiday Inn Express, who have excellent rooms and great staff to take care of your needs during your stay.
I really like getting drunk, and having my friends get drunk. This sounds like the place for me!
Yikes! So happy you know how to have a good time, but this tour isn’t for you. We will be more than happy to refer you to one of the limousine or taxi cab companies in the area. Most of our clientele are locals who are looking for a stress free way to explore their own community, expats who are returning to visit family, those traveling on business who crave something off the beaten path, or tourists who are intrigued by our history.
Will you accommodate vegetarians, vegans, gluten sensitivities, and other diet restrictions?
Yes, without additional charge! Just let us know, in advance, so we can custom craft to your needs.
Are there any taxes or fuel fees? Or any hidden fees?
No. The price you see on the website is the total cost of the tour. There are no fuel fees. Unless you add something else on, there are no additional fees. Everything is very straight forward.
What about winery tasting fees?
All tasting fees are included.
What about driver gratuity?
It is completely at your discretion. If you are pleased with the service and effort put forth by your guide, you are most welcome to offer him a gratuity. Your thoughtfulness will be greatly appreciated.
I am organizing this trip, but each person is responsible for paying their share, can they just call you with their credit card information?
You can have individual members call and pay their own way, or use the online booking, within 5 days of when you made the reservation. However, with a fully chartered tour, the Responsible Party is responsible for the entire cost of the tour. If there is any residual cost, we will contact the Responsible Party as a courtesy to inform them that the remainder of the cost is due and that their credit card will be charged.
I might have to cancel. Are there refunds?
If a total of four people do not sign up, a full refund will be issued. However, after the tour is confirmed with a minimum of four people, there are no refunds. It is not fair to the other three people on the tour to cancel, and the tour will continue as planned.
For the remainder of the tours, that time was booked just for you, and there will be no refunds. If you inform us 72 hours prior to your reservation, we will be happy to reschedule your trip within one year of the original booked date, if space is available. Unfortunately, if the cancellation is less than 72 hours, we will be unable to reschedule your trip, and your tour cost will be forfeited.
One of my friends who is going with is always late. Can we start the tour when he shows up?
With 24-hour notice, we can push your tour out to a specific time (depending on winery availability, and if no other tours have been booked for that day). With less than 24 hour notice, the tour guide will arrive promptly, and the clock will start. However, the tour will not board the van until the Responsible Party states that it is time to board. In the case of a late start, the guide will talk to the Responsible Party and ascertain her/his preferences. Additional time above the tour window will be billed at $70/hr. If it is a mixed tour, and not just one group, the tour will leave no later than 10 minutes after the scheduled departure time.
What other people might be on the tour?
If you would like a private, chartered tours: none. When the tour is chartered, it is considered to be an exclusive and private tour, and you have paid for all 7 seats on the van, regardless of the number of people. The only people who may go are those who you invite (an interpreter may be included by Twisted Vine Wine Tours, LLC, if needed and as arranged with the Responsible Party, at an additional fee.) However, if you are not on a private charter, that is a part of the fun, to meet new and interesting people while enjoying the Lewis Clark valley’s amazing wines, history, and culture. There may never be more than seven people, per tour.
I’ve never been wine tasting before. Am I going to feel foolish?
Heaven’s no! We’re excited you’re going to be joining us for your first trip. An educational component will be provided at the first stop, unless the Responsible Party says otherwise.
May I bring my child?
No. This is a 21+ years of age trip. Children may not come with.
May I bring my pet?
A service animal is welcome. However, we restrict any other animal, as others in your party may have allergies, or the winery dogs may not get along with your animal.
Is there room on the van for the wine that I buy?
Yes! Buy as much as you would like.
How will I get my wine home?
We will load the wine on the van for you, and offload it at your destination. If you are flying, the winery can ship your wine, or you can check your wine as baggage. If you are flying on Alaska Airlines out of Lewiston, an entire case of wine flies free! Some of the wineries have special shipping containers that you can purchase, so your wine makes it home safely.
What sort of vehicle do you use?
A 2014 Ford Econoline van. It is kept impeccably maintained.
Can you go into the State of Washington?
No. Due to licensing requirements, we are unable to cross the border.
Can you please let us have 8 people in our party?
Sorry! Again, due to licensing requirements, we cannot have more than 7 passengers. No exceptions.
I am going to be flying in, what airport should I use?
The Lewiston/Nez Perce County Regional Airport is strongly recommended.
If you are flying in using a private or chartered plane, Hillcrest Aircraft is Twisted Vine Wine Tours, LLC, premier FBO. If you desire, we can pick you up directly from your plane and whisk you immediately to your hotel (within Idaho), followed by our concierge wine tour, for an additional fee.
